Take a moment and think about how much of your time is spent thinking about, pursuing and engaging with the opposite sex. Often times we create a long list of (mainly superficial) attributes that we are looking for in a mate. The desire to find that one person who will fulfill us can easily take over our lives.
Here's an idea - give up on dating. There are absolutely circumstances where we should "let go and let God". Usually those times are when we are worrying about situations beyond our control. But we can also let go of our dreams and/or fantasies that are occupying our minds and possibly becoming obsessions and let God take care of our path.
Admit it, if you take the time to think about what is driving your dreams and fantasies they most likely are not grounded in mature christian values. Often times we are "asking" God to bring someone into our lives, and oh by the way here's how they should look, act and dress.
If we are willing to put aside the dating game and focus on spiritual relationships and pleasing God then we are submitting to His will. He is the potter and we are the clay. Let go of the dreams and let God shape your future. It's never going to be as romantic or fun or sexy as your fantasies but your life will be far more beneficial as you walk and grow and serve.
