"Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things." -Philippians 4:8
Video games, entertainment, partying, social media, working out, shopping, just hanging out with friends, having fun - all
We're nice people, we don't hurt anyone, break laws, steal, or cheat, we go to church on sundays (and actually listen), we know theology, we support social causes. (Woah, I feel some manipulative guilt coming on, I'm pretty sure I'm not going to like the point of this post.)
The typical young single has a lot on their plates. Smartphones and the internet have made information, people, and entertainment vastly more accessible. At times it can feel that the entire society is moving towards a collective ADHD.
Here's my point, with so many distractions we can easily slide through life moving from one thing to the next without ever finding satisfaction.
"Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded." -James 4:8
Many times God operates by guiding us to make decisions that draw near to Him and then showing us the blessings of following Him. We cannot experience the soul-calming comfort of the Spirit without prayer and reading the Word which is food for our souls. We cannot experience liberation from sin without the true repentance and discipline taught in scripture. We cannot feel the joy of being a Christian without loving and serving others.
Life is short. Everyone knows it. Consider this, if we try to squeeze the most enjoyment out of life we will end up frustrated, dissappointed and disillusioned. BUT, when we sacrifice this short life as an offering to God we find true fulfillment, peace and joy, AND we have an eternity of enjoyment to look forward to.

"For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it." - Matthew 16:25So how are you spending your time? Is it bringing you closer to your creator?
