Every 2 years the world sends athletes from all over the world to compete in the Olympic games. Men and women who have spent their entire lives training their bodies to compete for glory. They truly are the pinnacle of human strength, power and beauty. What a joke.
While I enjoy the photo finishes and the drama and competition I can't help but think how God views the olympics. Is he impressed? Here we are, a bunch of tiny arrogant nothings on a blue marble prancing around like we are something special. God could vaporize us all in an instant, flick the planet into the sun, squash the planet like a grape if He so desired.
The only bright spot in the Rio games were those athletes who directed the glory and thanks to God in their moment of triumph, divers Steele Johnson and David Boudia, Allyson Felix and the 100-meter hurtles team of Kristi Castlin, Brianna Rollins and Nia Ali who gave a wonderful testimony and many others.
But the hero worship is palpable at any olympic games, it is a celebration of Man. We would all do well to remember just how fragile and weak we are in the presence of the Almighty God.
