I will be starting a series of posts under the title THIS IS WAR.
We will look at the strategies of war and how they relate to the spiritual warfare we find ourselves in daily.
Topics will include: Supply Lines, Morale, Information & Intelligence, Weaponry, Strategy, Tactics, etc.
I will be using famous works on warfare including:
- The Art of War by Sun Tzu
- On War, General Carl Von Clausewitz
- The Art of War, Antoine-Henri Jomini
- The Campaigns of Alexander, Arrian
- 33 Strategies of War, Robert Greene
- Various sources about the Greek and Roman Tactics
What is war?
I shall not begin by expounding a pedantic, literary definition of war, but go straight to the heart of the matter, to the duel. War is nothing but a duel on a larger scale. Countless duels go to make up war, but a picture of it as a whole can be formed by imagining a pair of wrestlers. Each tries through physical force to compel the other to do his will; his immediate aim is to throw his opponent in order to make him incapable of further resistance.
War is thus an act of force to compel our enemy to do our will.
- General Carl Von Clausewitz, On War
My purpose in writing these posts is not to take secular knowledge of warfare and attempt to apply it to spiritual warfare, but rather to highlight that God, on one side, and satan and his forces on the other utilize warfare strategies in the spiritual realm. The result being that we understand that God has provided us with everything we need to win the daily battles with the flesh and satanic attacks.
