In War the Result is Never Final

In War the Result Is Never Final
"Lastly, even the ultimate outcome of a war is not always to be regarded as final. The defeated state often considers the outcome merely as a transitory evil, for which a remedy may still be found in political conditions at some later date. It is obvious how this, too, can slacken tension and reduce the vigour of the effort." - General Clausewitz, On War
Let's add some context for believer's to this quote.  In the war with sin the result IS and WILL BE final. Christ, through His death and resurrection defeated sin and death once and for all.  Christ will take care of sin and evil forever when He comes again to judge the world.

That being said, at no time during our lives on earth will the war be over. The enemy is waiting for an opportunity to attack and overconfident boasting about controlling spiritual forces is silly and dangerous.
Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed that he does not fall. 1 Corinthians 10:12
We must always remember that any victory in our spiritual walks comes from and through the grace and power of God.  If we are ever tempted to believe that we have conquered sin then we are fooling ourselves and pride is putting us in a precarious situation.

The war isn't over until Christ comes or He calls us home.

So what does this mean for our daily walks?
  1. We must be vigilant daily. Capturing thoughts, renewing our minds, keeping ourselves from sin is a daily battle.
  2. We must rely on God's power. This means daily prayer and reading the bible is vital,  we can do all things through Christ, an nothing worthwhile in our own strength.
  3. Our churches need believers who know how to resist sin. And are willing to teach the younger generation to do so as well.
