Confession is insufficient

Godly confession is important. (Godly Confession) It is a vital part of the believers walk with God and should never be neglected.    Confession is intended to bring us into greater understanding and communion with God. 

But confession does not automatically give us victory or mean we are completely sanctified.  We must understand that to confess our sins then keep repeating that sin is to take advantage of the grace of God.  God's grace is always greater than our sin, God is faithful and patient but He will not allow us to continue in sin without using the rod and staff (Stages of God's forbearance).  We may feel temporary relief after confessing but confession alone is insufficient to overcome sin.   

We would do well to remember how Jesus' addressed many of those he healed.

And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more. -John 8:11
