One goal

Hopefully by now you've spent time taking the necessary steps to battle lust. (Making a strong start)  You have stopped making excuses, repented, gotten support, and cleaned house.

Now comes the hard part.

The lust in your heart and the spiritual forces of evil know what is happening.  They will attack with previous unfelt intensity.  Temptation and Desire will plague you in a seemingly unending tide that threatens to overwhelm you.

But fear not,  these are the times that God always comes to your aid.  He brings His help at exactly the right time, "He is seldom early but never late" (author unknown).  His Spirit will supply the strength you need to resist Satan and battle lust.

One thing that helps during this time is to set a singular goal.  Determine that you will never again look at porn, think lustful thoughts about a woman other than your wife, masturbate or any other similar sin.

Our singular goal in this battle must be to kill the lust and sin with extreme prejudice. When we commit to total obedience without compromise we are much better equiped mentally to battle lust and temptation.

It is very similar to a marriage vow.  If someone gets married with the mindset that they can always get divorced if things don't "work out", or if they tell themselves that it's ok to flirt and cheat a little bit then in all likelyhood the marriage is doomed.  We are the bride of Christ, yet how quickly we try to excuse our sin!  Make it your goal to never fall into sexual immorality ever again!
