Churches are dropping the ball

I have seen many brothers struggling with lust, I have seen openly gay teens allowed to influence their peers during youth group events, I have seen a generation of kids who don't know why sex outside of marriage is something to be valued.

What I haven't seen is a church willing to teach clearly and openly about sexual purity. I haven't seen counseling and help for brothers and sisters who are enslaved by sexual immorality in every form. When was the last time you heard a sermon on sexual purity? Or attended a class or small group about sin and the heart?  If you are lucky the pastor will throw in a strongly worded warning or a special speaker will come and convict everyone but beyond that, nothing.

Church leadership, by in large, would rather avoid conversations about sexual purity.  This may be due to several factors: generational gaps tend to isolate the older church leadership from the temptations facing younger believers, the church leadership itself might be secretly involved in sexual immorality (God forbid), and some families may not want church leaders taking on the role they see as being the parents responsibility.  Whatever the reasons, the church has been very public in their opposition to the new sexual revolution in the public forum but nearly silent when dealing with sexual immorality in its midst.

The churches are dropping the ball.  Society is going through a sexual revolution that endangers our freedom, our children, and our souls and we need to be providing ways for our brothers and sisters to break the chains of sexual immorality.
