- The sin begins to "taste" different. The more we resist the less we desire it. The sin we used to love becomes repugnant.
- Our desire for holiness grows. When we are released from the guilt and stress of unrepentant sin, we are given a renewed joy and rest of salvation. There is nothing on earth as sweet as a close relationship with Jesus Christ. Mortifying sin brings us closer to Him. We become more motivated to kill the other sins in our life.
- We are more sensitive and empathetic to those who are struggling with sin. It's hard to be judgmental when we realize that we aren't any better ourselves.
- We enjoy life more. True spiritual freedom is being freed from the bondage of sin. With freedom comes increased enjoyment of God, our wives, and day to day life.
- We come out of isolation and begin building godly relationships again. First and foremost we want to reestablish consistent communion with God (Communion with God). We also start desiring fellowship with our brothers in Christ, and we focus on rebuilding our marriages. Our thirsty spirit begins to awaken from the time spent in the desert.
- We are more open to discussing our sins with others. There is a sense in which our experience attests to the grace and love of God. When we see brothers struggling with the same thing it pains us and we want to share how God led us out of the wilderness.
