Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. - Hebrews 11:1
As we have discussed in previous posts, Satan's plan is typically to immobilize us, isolate us and attack us. We feel depressed, fearful, ashamed, and full of doubt. This is the inner world of a defeated christian.
But the mindset of a christian who is actively battling sin is completely different. When we, in faith, obey God's commandments we are protected from Satan's attacks. Through faith we believe that God will be faithful to His promises (God's Promises) and that we will see victory over sin. Through faith we understand that God has not abandoned us in our time of need but is actively calling us back to himself.
Faith extinguishes Satan's attacks by:
- mobilizing us, (Rise up and walk)
- humbling us so we will seek help ( You need support)
- casting out doubt (Doubt).
It is imperative to have faith in the midst of spiritual battle. We must believe God when He tells us that:
What more assurance could we possibly need? For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. - Romans 8:38-39
